WebCompAnalyst Preview Now Available

November 20, 2008

I've put up a 7 minute preview video showcasing the ease and power of my newly available tool, WebComp Analyst. This tool is simply the most powerful, simplest link analyzer on the web. It will help you get a snapshot of exactly what it will take to rank for any set of keywords in Google — in only a few seconds.

Check it out and let me know what you think in a comment:

Click here to watch the preview video.

To answer a few commenters' questions:

What do the numbers returned by WebComp Analyst mean?

See the first question under the Frequently Asked Questions on the Help and Documentation page of webcompanalyst.com for a complete answer to that question.

How much will it cost?

It will be $67 (but only $47 for the first two days, thus the "launch discount") one time. This is not a subscription service.

Is it Mac compatible?

It is not Mac compatible, though you might be able to run it if you have Mono installed.

If one already has SEO Elite, would your software be necessary?

My understanding is that SEO Elite does not have a tool that lets you check the backlinks in the top 10/20/30 results for a set of keywords. It only lets you analyze an individual site's links — no snapshot functionality like WebComp Analyst (which is what makes WCA so much better than the competition).

That looks like a great tool to have to research on your keyword. I was really inpressed how it finds everything relavent to to your niches keyword.

Be really awesome to test this out,.

    Hi Jon
Very nice tool - It does everything that I do, too, only that it takes me hours and your tool does in the blink of an eye. Cool!
A pity that it is a windows application and not an website based service - Mac users are out again… :-(

Now that was cool. I like the search for the links. I think seo elite can do some of the anchor texting and finding what people are using for anchor text. But that is really a good tool.
    Great tool, Steve

    Hey Jon,

This tool looks so promising and the video was just so much pure and touching the mind. I am surely gonna grab this one. I never invest in internet marketing tools too much, but this one is too hard to resist !

However, I have a small question as to how should I build up backlinks quickly and effectively ?

  5. Chesa on November 20th, 2008 4:31 pm

I like the features, too. But like Michael, wouldn't it be nice to see some of these SEO apps on the Mac. Sure, we can run dual operating systems, but that extra step…

    Thanks. I like it.

    Chesa

    Looks preatty cool.
I'm amazed about the speed of the extraction of the results and how easy it seams to use it.

Can't wait to test it on road.

    This tool rocks!

I was currently speaking with a programmer about making a script that could do this very thing. Currently I have been performing this same process manually (by copying and pasting), and like Jon says in the video, it takes hours and is very tedious.

Since it's so important, I never skip this step. I am glad that this will be available soon, and I personally can't wait to get it as it will save me hundreds of hours!

Thanks for making such a useful creation, Jon.

    Looks great!
Two questions: how much? Is it Mac compatible

  9. Jeff Jones on November 20th, 2008 4:40 pm

    Jonathan,

    Another home run!

Simple to use and incredibly powerful.

I'm currently using Market Samurai (30 Day Challenge)which has more features but is not as straightforward for competition analysis.

Looks like another exciting tool from Jonathan, and if price is right, will be a buy. Timing is everything, argggg, just put 6 sites up over the last two weeks and "wasted" a lot of hours without this promising time saver. waiting………

    Hi Jon,
You have done it again. I shall be waiting on Monday.

    Great Tool!

I am all for automation and using time wisely, and this tool does both. Another fantastic tool to add to my web arsenal and beat the competition.

Looking forward to test driving this one and promoting it on my site

    Much Success!

To those asking about Macs, I run OSX on an IMAC and have VMWare Fusion going so I can run a fully functioning version of windows XP at the same time, I run all the windows based programs on it, including xsitepro, and every one of Jon's tools that doesn't happen to be web based. Check it out, very stable (release 2.0), I love it. You can even drag and drop between operating systems. Super cool.

    Jon,

Sounds great, looks cool. But what do we "do" with the info it provides?

For instance, I have a colleague in the online document management space. If I were to use this, in order to analyze her competition's backlinks…well, what could I do with that info to help her to outrank them???

Are we talking about making a bunch of blog posts as to why her service is best? Building backlinks that way? Enlighten me, please. Thanks a ton.

Hi Jon. Awesome looking product, and I love the fact that it's not a subscription service. I think the subscription stuff is becoming a little overused these days. Looks like something I'll definitely pick up for the $47.

Hmm, not much else to say, looks great.

Holly crap! This is going to save me a ton of time. Can I have my copy now! Seriously, I had time blocked away this weekend to do a lot of keyword research. I can change my plans if I have that tool now!

Also, someone asked about SEO Elite, it does not perform the same research as this will. You can get some of the same info but you need to put a lot more effort into it to get the same info you will get from John's tool.

Please John, if you are reading this, let me in!

    Thanks,

another killer tool that is going to save alot of us ALOT of time. I've been doing this recently by hand and its getting old real fast. This thing will not only save time, it looks like its alot of fun to use. I can't wait to try this one out!

  25. Wayne on November 20th, 2008 5:49 pm

It looks like a really cool tool and it would be nice to have. I know that you have to make some money off your software to cover the cost of having it made, it would really be nice if some of you guys would take into consideration the marketers that are on disability and maybe have a different price for them. We have a fixed income and the government does not allow us to have a life or living. I realize that it takes money to make money but if someone gave us a break we might just be up there with you guys some day. Just blowing off steam because it sucks to watch all these cool things that are being developed and I just have to watch them go by knowing that I will not be able to afford them to help me and to save me time. Sorry, just had to get it off my chest.
    Have a Happy Holiday Season!

  26. Andre on November 20th, 2008 5:50 pm

    Hey Jon,

Looks like an awesome tool but like Jon and Roy what are the practical applications for this software. Will there be training videos to go along with it. Always enjoy your innovations.

  27. Steve Steinitz on November 20th, 2008 5:59 pm

    Hi Jon,

I think I recognized the user interface — it was an old, irritating, buggy operating system called 'window' or something. When will you do the real version, for the Mac?

Heather, yes virtualization is a helpful back-to-the-wall option but it is resource hungry and annoying on many levels (but I agree, the drag and drop and cut and paste are welcome). Also, try doing incremental backups of the huge, monolithic virtual machine file to your Mac drives — you can't.

    Best regards,

    Steve

    Cool.

Looks like a great tool for researching and finding an under-developed market to develop a niche store and make it count.

Like others, I don't generally invest in so called tools, but from the video I may change my mind.

  30. Tony Page on November 20th, 2008 6:24 pm

I bought Leslie Rohde's Optilink programs a while ago, and also have Keyword Elite. As far as I can see, these cover the same ground plus other areas, but at considerably (!) greater price. Am I right in this? At any rate, your price is definitely competitive and has to be good value for anyone not possessing these other tools.

I am curious, where does it mine the keywords for search ideas?

    Hi Jonathan

Watched the Video and thought that was an incredible tool you have come up with.
You're absolutely right in SEO Elite - Pwerfull but does not have the saem functionality as WebComp in terms of what we want to achieve.

This tool seems to go right to the main point of doing keyword research in the first place and seems to make it so easy to actually have the results that we can put to immediate use for our projects.
Look forward to another excellent software
    Take care and many thanks

  43. Guido on November 20th, 2008 8:10 pm

Why are you using Google's Keyword tool for the suggestions? The KT and ask data is suspect at best.

  44. Guido on November 20th, 2008 8:10 pm

opps .. that was why *aren't* you using GKT … :)

  45. Heather on November 20th, 2008 8:16 pm

    1. The proxy question is a good point, other services like this have gotten me shut down from the SEs for a while due to so much pinging. How is this addressed?

    2. Steve, VMware isn't perfect, but it's better than having to choose a PC over a mac. This way I get the luxury awesomeness of the mac and I don't have to run a 2nd computer for all my marketing software. I backup to a separate windows based drive for that huge virtual file it creates. Until they abandon windows alltogether it's the best of both worlds. Although, I will never run vista on it, I would dare not poison this beautiful mac with such demons.

  46. Instant Income Plan on November 20th, 2008 8:31 pm

I think its the great tools for us to build the new compete site. Will be waiting for it.. :)

  48. Shaun on November 20th, 2008 9:09 pm

Jon, this is great, exactly what I knew you would create!

Just wondering - where do the back link figures come from? Yahoo Site Explorer? If so, it's basically automating what will take me many hours to do each time - and I'll be the first in line to buy it.

If it's not - where do the figures come from? Is this other source "better" than Yahoo Site Explorer?

This is important to know because it goes to the credibility of the data.

  49. Kevin on November 20th, 2008 9:45 pm

    Hey Jon,

Another awesome software created by you again.. I think its worthwhile a try, so that it can save us a lot of time….if we are going to do it manually

That is a very cool tool, how you keep thinking of this stuff amazes me!

  51. Greg on November 20th, 2008 10:27 pm

The single biggest reason to lunge at this tool - is to avoid banging your head against the wall trying to compete with sites that are on orders of magnitudes more established.

Would also be an excellent tool in the 'niche locator' category too, Jonathan.

    I'll be waiting for 11/24.

  52. Karl on November 20th, 2008 10:39 pm

Nice tool. Just wondering… Where are the suggested words coming from for the niche searches? Google trends?

  53. Internet Marketing Junkie on November 21st, 2008 12:11 am

Man..you always come out with the sweetest software! I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it on the video but this thing looks blazing fast!

Are there settings to prevent us from getting blocked by the search engines? I just ask because you are gathering data so quickly! SEO Elite has this option so just wondering…

The comparison of the inner page and home page is brilliant and having software to show it…I'm just too excited! Seriously would like this right now! Let us in! Haha….launch strategy 101 eh?

Thanks for offering this to all of us! See you on Monday :)

  54. David - Computer Help and Technical Support on November 21st, 2008 12:17 am

I've worked with a number of keyword tools. Most of them don't do competition analysis. Site Build It's brainstorm tool has many features including competition analysis and is very good. Plain wordtracker and Google Adwords require a lot of work to get the answers.

However, the way that Jon described his analysis process is very similar to what I've learned from Josh Spaulding and by reviewing the actual returns from Google you get a real sense of keyword value and competition.

This tool is awesome for taking the bulk of the manual labor out of the process and saving tons of time.

Please let me know as soon as it is available.

  55. David - Computer Help and Technical Support on November 21st, 2008 12:21 am

someone mentioned optilink. is there anything this software can do that optilink cant besides compare multiple sites at once?

  60. OrganicGuy on November 21st, 2008 1:39 am

    Jonathan,

I have a slightly more powerful piece of online software, Keyword Excavator, that cost me $200 … yours costs significantly less, and works on a PC which most people will love …. key is making sure the software is supported with ongoing updates …. Micro Niche Finder is very good about this, as the search engines, etc are constantly changing. Please update it!! The speed at which your tool provides a "can I beat this website" decision is phenomenal …. great tool, great price … superior time saver. Enter the KW, click, make your decision. Awesome.

    Hi Jon,

WCA looks cool and is lighting fast in sizing the competition from the perspective of backlink analysis.

I have SEO Elite and it doesn't have the batch processing capability as WCA.

    1. Wonder if WCA has (or will it eventually be able to have) the capability to do localized analysis. I'm based outside of the US and many projects are only of local SEO interest.

    2. I'm not sure if WCA can go beyond 1k links for anchor text analysis (probably not if the data's taken from Yahoo Site Explorer?), would be awesome if it could.

  64. stain removal guy on November 21st, 2008 3:43 am

    Hi Jon:
Looks like a cool tool. Questions, though.
    1) Someone mentioned getting slapped for pinging. Maybe a coincidence, but I got slapped for SOME reason almost immediately after I started using the 3w lynx rank finding tool. SERP rankings for my sites plummeted from previously modest to non-existent overnight, over a month ago. Coincidence?
    2) Will your new WCA enable entering a kw and a URL and see what the ranking of the URL is for that kw? Would that trigger getting Google slapped, as I suspect in Q1 above?
    3) The Go ogle Ads tool shows rough level of competition. Granted you can find out how hard to get ranked for a kw, but how do you know it is worthwhile to try for that kw? Does your new WCA tool look at public interest in a kw you may think of trying to rank for?

I thought that Keyword Dig, the free tool which can be downloaded at the "We Help Newbies"site of Craig Desorcy was very helpful for determining a niche, but this one surpasses that by showing the real time stats of what people are actually searching for and the linkages. I will be using both together in the future to help me find that lucrative niche in the market.

  71. KeywordSpy on November 21st, 2008 7:32 pm

Man.. I just love your software. Competitive Intelligence is VERY consuming. WebCompAnalyst will save me at least 3 hour/day doing my research. I really recommend you get the discount offer. $47 is a steal !

    2. More result in Niche Keyword Generator (Up to 100 would be great)

  72. Rob on November 21st, 2008 8:32 pm

    Jon-
Will you be adding an option to filter results? For example, if I'm looking for a set of keywords to use in 3WL, it would be great to filter all keywords in the top 10 - 20 results with less than 250 links.

Hi, I am really interested in this software. But there are several famous software online, could you compare your software with the software I mention below?

First, is SEO Elite, this software can analyze competition, and also send email to those sites and ask for link exchange, and SEO Elite is able to create link pages easily. How do you think about this function?

Another software is niche inspector which you mention it in another post, it also able to find niche keywords, how does it com pare to your niche keywords research function?

    Thanks!

I can not think of any other time before that I was so quick on the purchasing trigger. What a powerful tool at a great price. Thanks Jon!

  76. zoki on November 24th, 2008 8:17 am

I would like to add a few suggestions

First you should add count from wordtracker as well as allintitle.
So you basically would have ratio from that keyword.

And of course all other information you're giving now. in addition you should add maybe alexa and compete rank it also gives one picture of site worth.

This sounds like such a great tool, especially because of the "snapshot" function. But I'm a cheap man, and even $47 is a lot of money for a piece of software. I'll have to consider it, because it could be a good investment.

    Jon.

I appreciate you need to focus on the money products (new child to feed!) but I sure would like an answer regarding the future of GistSearch online tool.

It is a fabulous tool when it works. Are you going to fix it or have you abandoned it, replaced by your newest software for Articles.

    Thanks
    Jim
P.S. Shoot me an email if you would rather answer that way.

I am actually having the same question as Jim, is the Gist development still going on? Miss that tool.

For webcompanalyst, it is a cool tool but I think $47 is a bit pricey for its functions. I will stick to Google Keywords tool for the time being.

This tool is very good, I am using it to determine the best keywords for my website, this tool can analyze the best keywords from a link, especially the links associated with the topic of our website, so it is expected to increase our website traffic. But how do I use it in ubuntu linux?please help me?

This sounds like a fantastic tool Jon. I have just run across this page, but noted that no one here has actually done and end user review of it yet - a shame really.

Guess I will take the plunge and find out first hand.

Has there been any updates since the first release? That was not clear from the comments here either.

    Thanks.
