Break up your long pages for more AdSense revenue!

I don't usually recommend taking advice given to you on forums. It's been my experience that most forums are full of wannabes who like to spout off advice but haven't really accomplished anything.

There is the occasional exception, though, and I ran into one of those exceptions the other day (which is why I still follow a few forums despite most of the advice being bunk). I loved the idea so much I wanted to share it with you.

If you have long pages, long articles, etc., break up those long pages into multiple pages so that:

  1. A visitor with an 800x600 screen does not have to scroll to see the whole page.
  2. The AdSense ads are clearly visible at all times while the visitor is on the page.
  3. So, for example, if you have a 3 "page" article on the wonders of widgets, break it up into 3 web pages. Make each page fit into an 800x600 browser, and provide "Page 2 ->" and "Page 3 ->" links below the content.

This makes sure that your visitor has maximum exposure to the ads, and more chances to click on something that interests them.

The poster who made this suggestion said his earnings rose $300 a day by making this one change!

  1. Hi Jonathan,

You are quite correct on all tyhe above it’s something I have been doing for a while know – I have found that by making the page(s) so that little or no scrolling is needed by the user and the Read More… link has increased adsense revenue clicks and made a small site look larger. i.e 10 pages suddenly become 30 and the sites seem to get more SE spider activity, some have also increased PR’s

    Cheers

    Mike

  2. Why lose 5% due to having a screen size that’s too large? 5% is a significant portion of revenue.

  3. Just wanted to comment about the 800 x 600 page size. I just did a check of my visitors and over 90% are using a screen size of 1024 x 768, 5% are using a larger screen size than this and only 5% are using the 800 x 600 size. Wouldn’t it better to adjust for pages to the larger screen size?

  4. It is still advisable, it’s just that I put up all of my articles in one swoop to try and get it done and didn’t take the time to break up the posts like I should have.

  5. Hi Jonathan,

Why do you not break up your longer postings then? Is this not adviseable or possible for blogs?
