What would you ask an SEO expert?

January 18, 2007

If you could ask a well known SEO expert anything you wanted, what would you ask him?

Think hard on that question, because I'm giving you the chance to do exactly that! Aaron Walls, author of the famed SEO Book, has agreed to a question-and-answer chat session with me and you.

Does Aaron know his stuff? Here are just a few of the top rankings he has in Google:

SEO Book - Ranked #1
SEO Blog - Ranked #2
Traffic Building - Ranked #3
SEO Instruction - Ranked #4
SEO - Ranked #5
SEO Tips - Ranked #7

I'll be holding the chat Wednesday, January 24th, at 2p.m. CST (3 p.m. EST). I'll email everyone on my list where to go for the chat the day before.

Post your question in the comments below. I'll group the list into common questions and we'll spend an hour asking Aaron those questions together next week!

What marketing subjects concern you most for 2007?

January 16, 2007

I need your advice. I need to know what you think I should be researching and writing about in 2007. What are your goals? What traffic-building or sales-building subjects interest you the most?

Is it video? Articles? Traffic building methods? Product creation methods? AdSense? Search Engine optimization?

Post a comment with your response so that I can be sure and research, test and post information that you, my reader, are interested in.

Once all of the "votes" are tallied, I'll be putting together a chat-session for the most popular subjects. Everyone who wants to join in and ask questions or make comments about them will be welcome to do so. I've got the chat software installed and tested, so it will happen soon. Your thoughts count! Post them now.

Update on my video marketing results.

January 9, 2007

It's been a few days since my last post regarding my progress with video marketing, so I wanted to share with you the results that I'm getting.

One thing I'm noticing is that yes, indeed, it is possible to drive traffic and sell products and grow your list using videos. However, it appears to work best for driving traffic to content sites that don't actually sell anything, but rather monetize through AdSense or YPN.

For example, my cat and dog blogs have received thousands of new visitors thanks to my videos. This is due, in part, because those two videos have been up the longest and have therefore received the most traffic (most than 60,000 views between the two). So that's working great.

I also created two "car wreck" videos and one "ugly cars" video that pitch a free insurance quote site at the end, which is actually a pay-per-lead affiliate program. Those three videos have collectively generated about 25,000 views, and have resulted in 5 sales in less than ten days. They are short, simple videos that contain pictures with background music. I can see how creating dozens of these kinds of videos regularly and distributing them could result in a nice income stream.

Finally, I created a video to see if I could directly get people to sign up to my mailing list. The video has an attention grabbing headline and description. That video has resulted in about 1,500 views in five days, being the least popular of my videos by far, but has resulted in 8 new signups to my list directly. I think it's actually resulted in a few more than that, but some people browsed around my blog first before going to the normal signup page to sign up, and they weren't tracked as video signups.

So in terms of actual conversion of video views to visitors, the cat and dog videos are winning the game. But from an affiliate point of view, using pay-per-lead programs that are free for consumers (such as getting a free insurance quote) seems to be the way to go. I can also see how building up your list with videos is also possible, especially if you can get a video that really gets popular. If my list videos got as many views as the cat and dog videos, based on the current conversion rate to list members, I would expect around 300 signups. Not too shabby at all.

As always, I'll keep you posted on my progress.

P.S. For those of you who keep asking, I'll let you know in a few days how I generate so many views so fast. The main way is by following the instructions given in my Video Traffic Power course, but there's another tool I use that really works wonders as well.
