What marketing subjects concern you most for 2007?

January 16, 2007

I need your advice. I need to know what you think I should be researching and writing about in 2007. What are your goals? What traffic-building or sales-building subjects interest you the most?

Is it video? Articles? Traffic building methods? Product creation methods? AdSense? Search Engine optimization?

Post a comment with your response so that I can be sure and research, test and post information that you, my reader, are interested in.

Once all of the "votes" are tallied, I'll be putting together a chat-session for the most popular subjects. Everyone who wants to join in and ask questions or make comments about them will be welcome to do so. I've got the chat software installed and tested, so it will happen soon. Your thoughts count! Post them now.

    Hi Jonathan,
I want to know if adsense is dead due to googles new CPA?
    Thank you!

  3. Jennifer on January 17th, 2007 4:22 am

I would love to be able to get a adsense site up and running quickly and get it onto the search quickly without the niche flying out the window.

I find it hard to get everything done in time and shortcuts would help a great deal!

    Hi,

I have a content rich web site about naturopathy and complementary medicine in German, English, Italian, Spanish, Turkey and now Arabian. And daily more than 2000 visitors on my German site. In order to get more visitors I made a small video and since yesterday we have a podcast about naturopathy in German. Now my question. What can I do more to get 10,000 visitors a day.

    Kind regards
    Torsten

More great ways like IWP to get creative when developing content. Less emphasis on Adsense.

    Hello Jonathan,

All my efforts are going into Virtual Real Estate based on :
    Non-Internet Marketing categories
    High quality content Adsense sites
    In depth keyword research
    Affiliate sales
    Own product sales

You ask what I am looking for?

Well - with over 75,000 content articles littered all over my hard drive, I am pretty desperate for a good desktop database system for proper article organisation. I've looked at PLR Dashboard but that doesn't go nearly far enough.

The other thing I am looking for is some good tuition on efficient domain name management.

Hope this gives you some ideas!

    Regards

    Charles

    Hi Jonathan,

    Thanks for asking!

First, I do prefer traffic building methods! Secondly I prefer personal advice (I do want to pay for it*) to increase the Adsense revenues.

    Regards,

    PS*
I do need the straight tip! I'm on the web with this bog for 2 years, followed all the tips, but can't manage more then
    € 1,00 Adsense income a day.

I think the biggest thing i would like to see is about keyword research, and not the usual vauge articles that many writers produce, something thats actually of use like:

    1. The best sites for finding good keywords
    2. Anaylisis of the figures
    3. Which tools are for which search engines and the % of results they actually represent
    4. How to find keywords that are Nation specific, this is needed for webmasters targeting certain markets with their products.

This kind of information is hard to come by, with so called SEO experts who simply blur how they do their research to the point where the article is simply annoying, or they are selling their so called wisdom for plently of money, often if you buy this sort of thing, it turns out to be more waffle than useful info.

Hope you find this of use.

I am building q.content sites for adsense and want to know much more about traffic. What did I do so far? Posting article pages everyday, linking to blogs with high PR to get inbound links, creating mini net site with 4-5 related niches and blogs with new IP each. Publishing articles and using socialbookmarking. I would like to know if I could do more for my business and how?

  17. malbo on January 17th, 2007 5:30 am

Since the demise of reciprocal linking and the downgrade of links on many directories, I would like opinions on which paid directories are worth gaining a link which will count towards a lift in serp rank.

    Hi, Jonathan

First thanks for your newsletter and your products.
Just read your "1000 visitors…" Thanks!
    What I'am interested right now.
    1. what is that mystery of coregistration brokers, services etc?. Are there any recommended companies? Is it possible to dive in this thing without spending tons of money. Maybe you can provide the truth about this thing.
    2. I'am lookinig for a complete system to outsorce the most part of site building. I think other readers maybe interested too. If you have money and want to build good sites for long-term profits it is time to leverage. Maybe you can share your own experience.

    Have a nice day.

  21. Rut on January 17th, 2007 6:02 am

My goals are pretty simple. To get a income making site that will give me return after return so I have some money to live my dreams at last. To enjoy working on the computer at home less hours than at a JOB. To visit the UK, especially Ireland, then Denmark, and Australia. And last but not least …to sell this home and move to Bethpage area on Long Island, New York.

I need to find the business that will bring me this income; but mostly I want to be honest with and help the people that are on my list. I want a good, large opt-in list that I know will be lucrative.

I need to learn good Traffic building methods. I need to learn how to minimize my incoming emails. I need to learn SEO, video and AdSense. I know how to write articles but I need to shorten the content and make them grab my 'audience' more. I feel I am more an affiliate person than a product creator.

    Jon,

I would have to say, All Of The Above, however, being 69 years old and new to internet marketing, I would have to say that Traffic is by far my biggest headache. There is a ton of "garbage" out there that is guarenteed to produce "hundreds of niche targeted buyers with credit cards in hand and hungry to buy whatever it is that your selling." After 14 months I have spent a great deal of money and have very little to show for it. Overall I consider the cost as part of my education and I press on.

I would like to have a personal mentor, someone who will work with me one on one to help show me how to get traffic to my website and start generating an income. I would be willing to pay $97 a month for a service like this if it is genuine.

I know that does not sound like alot of money to an internet marketer who makes $10,000 + a month, but to someone like me who is not yet making an income from my website it is alot. I would be willing to give a testamonial or anything else for this valuable time given to me by someone with the experience and abilites to help me.

I have generated some minimal income from adsense through submitting articles but so far that is my only source for traffic.

  42. Aramyus on January 17th, 2007 11:25 am

    Jonathan,

I propose 3 ideas, 2 of which are probably hot

    a) Using videos

Where to find ideas for content ?
Are there private label content videos ?
Can video be made by freelancers ?
How many times should a video be uploaded ? (Google and Utube only ?)
Is it worth to add a 'video section' on a web site ?

(Note: Not interested in "how to use camtesia' or similar)

    b) Using Web 2.0/bookmarking practically

There may be 100 or more bookmarking sites
There are already a couple of squidoo like sites
There are dozens of networking sites like Myspace

How to use them to build traffic ?
Should we open 100 bookmark accounts or only 2/3 accounts?
Are there methods to raise the interest of other bookmarkers ?
How many squidoo lenses should we open ?

(note: not interested in 'how to spam myspace', nor in 'How to open an account at delicious)

    c) Coaching

Individual reviews of a website for ideas to improve sales/profits

Can a freelancer be hired for that ? Are there services ? (one easily gets blind after a while, so fresh ideas are always of interest …)

(Note: not interested in a tool for A/B split testing)

I suppose new tools and services will reach the market in 2007 on each of these subjects.

    Thanks
    Aramyus

    Hi Jonathan
We posed that same question to our members at www.TheMarketingEducator.com and here is some of the feedback we received.
Information about doing TV commercials to promote their web site.
Step by step instructions on setting up mini sites with AdSense
How to get more unique visitors without spending a fortune.
How to identify and develop niche markets for an already existing e-commerce store.
If our members are looking for that type of content, your members probably are as well. After all, knowledge is the first step to success!

    Jon:

First of all, I would like to see an upgrade to IAW Pro that allows us to either use the article database or the search engines for our content gathering.

Also, I would like you to research and put together something that investigates article marketing that is somewhat similar to the bum marketing approach.

I know bum marketing is just a coined phrase but the concept is truly intriguing.

    Hi Jonathan,

My main goal for this year is to build my first website. I'm kind of tired of having all thes affiliate sites.

I have found a great list builder that gives me 3-4
people at least once or twice a week. It's called Triple
Your List. But they are only leads really. I want to be able to build my own list of double opt-in's, and building my own site I hope will help me with that.

Some of the things I would like to see more of this year and learn more about are:

    Website building and design

    Web 2.0

    RSS

How to write articles that people will read.

How to turn window shoppers into buyers. (I am a great recruiter. I am signing people up for my affiliate programs right and left, but no buyers. Do you think that maybe a whole lot of people out there in Cyber Land just don't know who to trust anymore?)

And I can always use some good tips on writing ezine ads and solo's. Maybe my ads are just making people interested enough to want to join my affiliate programs.

Well Jonathan my good man, this ought to keep you busy for awhile. I am always open to any new information on anything that comes up for the future.

Best wishes for you Jonathan in 2007. May all your goals be met.

    Jim Hinck

I am interested in case studies that you have ran, on products and markets that have worked for you, and those that did not do so well for you.

I want to know if direct linking from PPC still works for affiliate products, or should we build a landing page first, or a pre-sell page and then redirect to the affiliate site?

I also have been using Google site-targeting for running campaigns, what is your experience with this traffic method using the CPM model? I will share my results with you if you wish.

    Thanks,

My goal for this year is to have my own website and start creating my own products eg articles ,Ebooks.

I would be interested in learning more about articles ,traffic building methods and product creation

I have been involved in affiliate programs for a while now
and have had enough of that .

Just want to start my own Internet Business and maybe one day start helping others as you are now.

  49. Jim Weltzin on January 17th, 2007 12:34 pm

    Hey Jonathan!

Here is something that I need to learn a lot about. Also, it would be cool if you could write an application or script to achieve this as well, regardless of the niche.

Suppose I should tell you…Butterfly marketing. I am not sure as to whether the latest one that was marketed was what I am after, as I never bit. What I am after is the nitty gritty details….going far beyond what Michael Campbell and Leslie Rohde have spoken about with the butterfly and diamond websites along with dynamic linking….going into adversely modified mininets, what they are and how they work.

I get bombarded with PLR articles, etc. and being relatively new to all of this I have NO idea how to use these or what to do with them. It seems like I need a well established marketing machine already in place to take advantage of them. How can a person with a limited budget take all of these "products" and turn them to advantage. Most of the so called "how-tos" out there are so filled with sales garbage they are unusable.

    thank you.

I think Web 2.0 is taking off and it is hard to find good, reliable information on that line. I got your report on the videos - that is one aspect, but there are lots of ebooks around on Myspace and Craigs list and all - and not all are as good or as reliable as your report.
If you could touch more on these lines I think that would be a big help. I have started 2 sites in this area but it's tough figuring this all out. It sure seems we should be looking at exploting the traffic at these websites.

How about how to actually make money with today's websites without chasing and spending a fortune on all of the "guru's" must have products. The landscape for Google (and other SEs) has changed considerably in both Adwords and Adsense and I think people need more strategies on how to succeed today than they need products to create fluff.

What would a weekly routine look like to really promote a site or product. How much time to spend on content, SE submits, SE optimization, adwords type advertising, adsense type revenue building, how to build your own list, how to advertise to them ect.

Again there are so many products out there but the real winner will be the one that comes up with the one week or one month work out routine to put it all together in a successful business plan.

Traffic. Without it, a beautiful, or well converting, or informative, or helpful, or well-designed, or anything else page will never be seen. You can't track, or split test non-existent visitors' behaviour, or buying patterns. Once you have traffic, you can learn from your mistakes. If a tree falls over in Siberia and there is nobody around to hear it, then does it make a sound? The answer is; WHO CARES! Just like a site with nobody visiting it.
So what do I want to see? Practical, simple steps to getting traffic and which real-world tools are useful and which ones aren't. Perhaps a different startegy each week, or month?

    Dear John:
this is anew world for me ,the more I read and get more involved, the more complicated it beomes.
I noticed thet there are so many people trying to reep off more people .So the fun part is getting to the end of every advertizing to see how much is going to cost me for information that is not worted any more because google decided to change the way they see pages, URL's or lynks. So I decided to go to Barnes and Noble and get some books that I hope have some dicent answers.NO OFFENSE to you, so far I have printed some of your e-mails and come up with some good ideas of wich way should I go to advertize my web site.
    Thanks

Mike Russell above said it best. Even a poor sales page will make some money if it has enough traffic, but a great sales page will make nothing if you have no traffic. Traffic is and always will be king.

I think the web2.0 stuff is really important as it is the new model that can provide traffic for little or no cost and doesn't require long hours of SEO work on your site to get SE placement because the traffic comes from other source rather then from SE rankings. You've already touched on this subject with your recent videos and somewhat with your article submission tests.

Perhaps some craigslist techniques, Squidoo and others, but keep it white hat as I'd rather have less traffic that is targeted traffic then tons of untargeted traffic.

Jon: The Web site mentioned above is new and is my first step in building "my internet empire". I've been watching and collecting for some time now. I don't necessarily call myself a newbie, yet just the mechanics of getting online are somewhat challenging. I am going thru an online course to help with that too. Things like redirectingt an URL from registrar to host, and using a cPanel come second nature to you, yet someone that has never done this, needs all the help they can get. I would say "list building" would be next on my list. I'm an older adult student, so things take me a little longer than most–yet I do get the job done. I enjoy your newsletters and the freebie's you send my way.
    thanks,
    Steve Allwein (pronounced "all-wine").

    Hi Jonathan,
As always, I think you're on the cutting edge by promoting web video. I listened to a teleseminar where many of the top IMs (Mike Filsaime, John Reese, etc.) gave their predictions for 2007 - the power of video to increase sales was at the top of their list. I've since been buying everything about online video, including your Power Video package ($47?). Could I ask you - is the info in your $7 1000 visitors report already included in the package I bought? I plan to create a video ebook and a website about online video. Let me know if I can do anything for you.
    Best regards,
    Edwin Copps

Bottom line: How Do I get targeted traffic on a small budget?

I have so much content material info - I don't even know where to start. It's like a horse race against time with all these new tactics - staying ahead of the field is somewhat daunting!

In one of my sites, I submitted a few articles (I have over 60 ready to go), but I entered the Google "limbo" if I can coin that phrase, and entered the slow death of duplicate content; as the same article in my site started appearing in other places. From a PR4 I am down to 2.

I am interested in creating a website using animation and sound with options for dial up that will not have to wait for animation or long downloads. I am looking for someone that knows what they are doing to design something that:

    NO ONE ELSE is doing.
EVERYONE can make money regardless of experience.
There is a REAL PRODUCT to sell.

A combination of several different things including a monthly membership fee in which the more productive will receive more, but those who cannot recruit, will still receive more income than expense for membership.

I've heard that e-videos are the way of the future. In my experience of visiting sites with video, I've found that it is too time consuming to sit and wait then watch someone's e-video. I tend to skip over these sites. I'd rather print out information that I need and read it at my leisure. Therefore, i'm reluctant to persue the idea of having video on my web site (which I don't have yet) in case too many others think like me. What are your thoughts.

Testing and results from the tests. The testing you did on articles was GREAT. Real numbers we can work with. So few people in IM are releasing results from testing they have conducted. We don't have the time to test everything before trying it or we would never get anything done! Anyone fairly new in the business is doing everything by themselves, not outsourcing yet, and therefore no time to test, test, test. Simple little tests with results greatly reduce the learning curve. Thanks for the open based help. We all appreciate it very much!
    Electronically,

    Hi:
I got to know you because of AdSense Gold, and in particular the Tracker.

Recently, I’ve been even more focused on AdSense, using an arbitrage approach.

So, I’d like to get to know more about the Tracker; I have using it, but I don’t think I’m using it to its maximum.

Geting the maximum value out of Tracker would be my number one priority.

    Thanks

let me start from the begining-i am sort of a newbie and haven't got a clue. well i have been on the net fo about 1yr now and haven fallen into every guru scam imaginable so far i have lost $10,000.00 to a marketing rep who sold me into a business and that was the last i have heard from him was thank you i'll be in touch. the company is still in business but i have never recovered any money.i was told it was buyer beware. so now i am still trying to make money not really knowing what the heck i am doing. i have downloaded hundreds of ebooks, tutorials, classes on video ,seo, etc etc have no idea how to put it all together. i even have oher sites but i just do not have the know how . i was a forced retired 23 yr of service with the big AT&T cingular came in took over and all the old timers we were looking for work .i will vever work in corp. america again .so now i live on social security trying to make it on the internet and by god i will . i am a college graduate but that was probably while u were still in diapers and now i need you help if you dare .well thats my story and i'm sticking to it and i am ready for some football.hey thanks for listening to an old man sorry o take up so much space and time

I want a step-by-step, no fluff, no filler, tutorial on how to use the data feeds provided by many affiliate programs that add thousands of products easily instead of manually creating links one by one to their products, which is too time consuming. I haven't been able to find anything like that on the web.

I understand I need to put the provided datafeed info into some kind of spreadsheet and convert them to the format I need to match my mysql database for whatever I'm using them for. But I don't understand how to write a script (the syntax) to call the data once I have it in my database. I'm proficient at HTML but when it comes to PHP, I only know how to cut and paste from an example.

And most of them refer to using Excell as the spreadsheet, which costs $300. Is there a low cost or free open source spreadsheet alternative that would work? I've never used a spreadsheet. And how does it work to put it all together, etc. I need a specific example that will walk me thru setting up a datafeed on my sites that run on Joomla and PHP Nuke open source content management sytems.

I don't normally endorse info products, but I bought a little about 5 page pdf file from you about Adsense placements and the best colors to use for $97, which was the first info product I ever bought. At the time it seemed like a lot of money to me, but that little report that cut to the chase and said simply, do this and this and this, increased my Adsense earnings from $300/month to $1,000/month within days. I've bought several other info products on Adsense and other subjects since then, some for a lot more money, and while most of them ran to 200 pages plus, I haven't learned anything new that has increased my earnings one cent.

I'm looking for something like that on the above subject. I don't have time to read dozens of pages of fluff that just confuse me, and I don't have time to listen to videos, that method of learning doesn't work for me and takes too much time to get to the useful part. I just want something in writing I can read quickly, and just go thru the steps outlined.
